Welcome to 5G!

Spring 2 - Beast Creator

We have had lots of fun this half term learning all about mini-beasts.

In English we wrote some fantastic limericks and kennings poems; explanation texts about life cycles and stories from the shrunken point of view of an insect!

In DT we designed and made a bug hotel. They are now ready to receive

their first guests around the school grounds.

Take a look at some of our 5* creations below!

Trip to Boxhill

We visited the National Trust site at Box Hill to learn about the impact of tourism on the area. We were able to use a quadrat to help us look really closely at the different types of flora and fauna that grow there. We braved the snow to complete our survey of lots of different places and all enjoyed the stunning views.

Autumn 2 2021

This half term our topic has been Stargazers. We have loved learning all about space.

In science we have found out all about the planets, how we have day and night, the phases of the moon and gravity.

In history we have learnt all about famous historical figures such as Isaac Newton and Neil Armstrong.

In English we have written newspaper articles about the moon landing of Apollo 11. We also wrote some science-fiction portal stories using Dr Who as an inspiration.

We made  our own 3d moving solar systems in DT - see some photos below.

Our finished CAMS- they're out of this world!

Autumn 1 2021

This half term our project has been Peasants, Princes and Pestilence.  We have been learning about the plague and how life was in the middle ages.  We went back in time in our History lessons and became different members of society to see how others would treat us.  We have also been busy designing and creating our own coat of arms from batik.  We also took part in the worldwide event, One Run, where we ran laps of the field non-stop for 15 minutes.
