1st Week of school

The children have had a wonderful week of learning and settled in so well to their new classes. New children especially in Nursery and YR have adjusted so quickly to nursery and school life.  I attach a short video link to share our priorities this year - Attendance, Spelling, Handwriting, Mental Maths, Problem Solving and SEN; watch to find out more.  Attendance is our first priority as children need to be at school and nursery to make the most of learning opportunities in order to reach their full potential.

Clubs are changing this year.  Our teachers are kindly continuing to give up their time to support weekly clubs but the focus is on the sports clubs to prepare the children for fixtures; we want all children to have greater access to the events with local schools.  Our curriculum projects provides wider experiences in other curriculum areas.  We will of course provide you with details of other club providers and there is Funzone available for childcare. Try outs will take place the week after next (w/c 19th September) and children can try out for as many clubs as they want. We have organised clubs on different days to allow children the widest choice.   Mr Barnett will share the details of what and when next week.

I was asked if parents could lay tributes for the Queen Elizabeth II, on the Jubilee throne and table in the nature area, this is a fitting place in school for anyone who wishes to mark her passing in this way.  The children had a small assembly today where we remembered Queen Elizabeth II and welcomed our new King Charles III; it was very touching.
