We have enjoyed a fantastic start of the new year with exciting learning projects. The children are really enjoying all the new learning and I hope you are enjoying the weekly Marvellous Me alert telling you all about the current learning. The project learning information is on the Class Pages of the website.
It has been a tricky start to the year with bugs galore about, please follow NHS/doctors advise and remember to bring your child in if well enough to learn and if they become unwell we will send them home.
We have welcomed Mrs Neumann to Year 4 and Mrs Hook to Nursery 2. Many parents have met the staff on the playground. Parents asked at Parent Council for a further opportunity but did not want a coffee morning, the forthcoming parent/teacher progress meetings will provide this opportunity to meet them both.
Mid-Year Report
On the last day of the half term, you will receive your child’s midyear report, identifying how well they are doing in all subjects/areas and areas for focus in the rest of the school year. From next Monday 23rd January you can book the slot for your Parent/Teacher progress meeting, the link will be sent out by email. The meetings are 15 minutes long and are an opportunity to explore in more detail the midyear report.
Meeting days are:
Parent Council
The Parent Council met on 11th January 2023 and discussed a number of matters, here is the link to the minutes.
There is a new vacancy for a Nursery 1 parent/carer to join the Parent Council.
Library Training
I intend to start training from 30th January and will be letting parents know of the slots for training so you can pick one that suits you. It will only take 30 mins for the training and then it’s asking you to find time to come in and catalogue the books.
Eco Matters
Glue Sticks were such a source of pain over the last years. Despite many attempts to recycle and repurpose empty ones so many hundreds were going into landfill. Mrs Taylor discovered u-fill a refillable glue stick, we love it. We are using up all the old glue sticks and then the children will have their own named glue stick which can be refilled. See the video here
The item will be added to the school shop in the coming weeks so you can purchase a unit and refills for home and your office/workplace too. Let others know about it and help us to save so much waste.
We are exploring more and more products that result in no waste as recycling is so difficult locally.
The Eco Shop also continues to stock the Faith in Nature products for you to purchase at cut price cost. The Eco Council are monitoring bins at the moment so we can be sure we are doing all we can to not produce unnecessary waste.
Office Matters
Please do not call the office within the last 30 minutes of the school day and expect them to be able to relay messages for collection/hometime plans. Pass remember to pass these messages to the class teacher at the start of the day.
Do check the school calendar on the website to know what is happening when.
