Happy February everyone, what a January! Covid numbers are falling at last, we have had a couple of cases most days this week and are at last below 10% (9%) of our nursery and school being affected in the last 10 days. Thank you to everyone for your support with this outbreak.
The children have been sharing their wonderful homework projects this week – what creativity, from volcanoes to crocheted food and everything in-between. We are currently reviewing our homework offer to explore ways to make it an enjoyable valuable experience, both on the computer and off. If you have any view on homework that you would like to share please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or share with me or Mrs Rumsby on the gate.
As shared at the last Parent Council meeting, we will no longer be closing for lessons for Parent Teacher meetings, so 23rd March is not a closure day and all children are expected at school/nursery on this day. We have also reviewed our reporting progress to parents and are making some changes:
Reports – we are required by the DfE to produce one report a year. We have decided to produce 2, one for the midpoint of a year and one at the end of the year. As we just produced one at Christmas this will be the midpoint report for this year, next year this will come out at February half term. The final report will come out on 11th July. We will be working with the Council members on the format to make it as parent friendly as possible, within the confines of what is required by the DfE.
Parent Teacher Progress Meetings
We will timetable opportunities during the w/c 11th July week for parents/carers to book online meetings with the Classteacher to discuss anything you want to; these meetings are optional. Meetings will take place online in the day, before and after school. We will also do the same for the final week of the February half term from 2023.
Please do not wait for any formal meeting to discuss a matter with the staff. They are always happy to discuss your child’s progress, throughout the year, if you would like a meeting, please arrange it directly with the Classteacher through their contact email:
If staff have any concerns at any point during the year, they will contact you directly and arrange a meeting. If children have any learning gaps or additional needs, the teacher will share these with you and discuss the plan of action for school and home.
In addition, the website shares the half-termly projects, Marvellous Me notifications each week share the learning and achievements and certificates home share when your child has passed key achievements.
Please order Dinners for the week after half term (22nd February) on Scopay by next Wednesday 9th. Late orders cannot be accommodated.
We have had some questions this week re Sugar Free drinks and extra puddings. Drinks are to be low in sugar and children are allowed one pudding e.g. yogurt or a cake, not two or more. I attach the policy below so all aware.
A packed lunch needs to be a balanced healthy meal of:
All are planned to resume after half term.
