We have had many requests for children to have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument within school. From September, we are excited to announce that children will have the opportunity to sign up for brass (trumpet, trombone and French horn), wind (flute, clarinet and saxophone), drums and guitar. These lessons will take place within the school day and there is also the facility to loan instruments from Surrey Arts to enable children to practise their new skills at home.
The children have had an exciting assembly this morning to showcase some of the instruments that are on offer and hear some of them being played live!

Music lessons at Ash Grange Primary School in September
Surrey Arts are very pleased to offer students in year 3 & above the opportunity to have music lessons through their school in September. The students attended a short demonstration session held by our teacher, Mrs Hartley earlier today, where they were introduced to woodwind & brass instruments as well as drums & the guitar and listened to them being played. We really hope that they enjoyed this experience and are interested in learning one of these instruments as a result.
We are currently taking on new students at Ash Grange to start lessons in September and we are pleased to offer a 10% discount off our usual lesson fees for new students’ autumn lessons. If you would like to take up this opportunity, please apply online via this link - Surrey Arts registration form by Thursday 30th June
We are keen that all pupils, no matter their background or financial situation feel able to learn an instrument with us. Full details of concessions and financial assistance can be found here: Apply and pay for children's music lessons - Surrey County Council (surreycc.gov.uk)
Instruments can be hired or purchased from local suppliers or hired directly through Surrey Arts subject to availability. The cost of hiring an instrument from us currently ranges from £28 to £34 per term, depending on the instrument and we would be more than happy to contact you with further information after receiving your application.
There are also several Surrey Arts ensembles and groups county-wide which would be available to further aid student’s musical development. We also offer the first term’s membership to any of these groups free of charge, so that students can join on a trial basis before deciding whether to commit longer term. We look forward to hearing from you.
If you have any questions relating to the above, please email our music administrator, Sally White email@example.com and we will get back to you as quickly as we can.
