On Thursday 19th September, Ash Grange’s netball players faced their first match of the season away at Waverley Abbey. For all but Rebecca, this was the team’s first match so we were all very excited (if a little nervous!).
The sun was shining to make it a lovely afternoon for some netball as the players took the court.
Unfortunately, the first quarter was tough and our opposition’s extra years of practise showed as they took a 5-0 lead. However, after that little shock to the system, Ash Grange managed to toughen up their defence, only letting in two goals in the second quarter and totally shutting them out in the third quarter! Tired legs meant we let in two more goals for a final score of 9-0.
The Ash Grange players showed incredible team spirit to keep playing and cheering, despite a tough score line. Miss Horton was very impressed by some of the play from Ash Grange, with some lovely interceptions and passing, and is excited to see how much we improve over the season.
Although the final result was not what we were hoping for, the team should be very proud of themselves! Well done to Sophie, Vicky, Rebecca, Craig, Abi, Pachalo and Hannah for representing Ash Grange in our first netball match of the year!
