New Year Starts

Welcome to the new school year, I do hope you had a wonderful summer and enjoyed the sunny weather.  We are so looking forward to welcoming everyone back and to all our new families we welcome you to our school family.

Over the summer holiday we have been able to get lots of work completed at school, the new gates and fence are in and they look brilliant.  The side entrance has two gates to enter and leave through and will be automated to open at 8.35am and close at 9. 10am to allow Nursery parents to leave through that gate too.  If school children arrive after 8.45am they will still need to enter at the school office, not going down to the classroom, the playground side gate is not there to restrict access.  The lower gate at the bottom of the alley will not be opened for a few weeks as we are waiting for the grass to bind below the rubber matting; the hot weather prevented the grass from growing over the summer.

By the gates and through to the side playground there are areas of new tarmac and Astro turf islands, expanding the space for the children to play in.  We have the children’s chosen playground markings booked for the end of September/start of October; we needed to wait 6 weeks after the tarmac was laid.

The Nursery classrooms, toilets and corridors have been redecorated and have new carpets and lino, they look wonderful. Their outside area has a new mud kitchen, that the children climb into; what fun!

We have lots of wonderful plans this year, including changing how we teach spellings and mental maths; I will share more fully in the coming weeks.

The school calendar is live on the website, so look ahead to know what is happening when.  Thank you Mrs Cooper for getting this all organised.  The class pages have changed for the year and the contact information for each teacher is there if you want to email them.

Year 6 Walk Home alone

If you wish your Year 6 child to have the privilege of walking home alone, then please fill in a request form at the School Office.

Children can be left to line up before school when you think they are responsible and safe. Any child not behaving safely will lose this privilege.

Mobile Phones

A reminder that Mobile phones are NOT allowed on the school ground for any child. Any phone found will be confiscated and returned to the child’s parent/carer at staff convenience.

If your Year 6 child has a distance to travel alone or on public transport they may have permission granted to bring a phone. This must be discussed with Mrs Curtis by the parent/carer prior to the phone being bought to school. In this instance the turned off phone is bought to the school office at the start of the school day and collected by the child at hometime.

Looking forward to seeing Years 1 to 6 on Monday and over the induction week for the Early Years.

Kindest regards,

Mrs Curtis
