1) Website

Mrs Curtis shared lots of new features and sections on the website. Please take a look, the children have created art and wonderful work to share.

2) Anti-Bullying and Mental Health and Well-being Awards

Mrs Rumsby shared the awards that the school is working towards in recognition on all we do. Thank you to parents who are meeting assessors at the different events.

Mrs Curtis shared a leaflet that has been produced by the schools of Ash to help parents, carers and children understand what Anti-Bullying is and how school’s support children to not become a bully and to support anyone involved in bullying.

3) Y4 Hometime

Parents asked that Y4 and all classes come out more promptly at the end of the day. Mrs Curtis will address this with staff.

4) Parents waiting by the alley

Parents raised concerns about possible dangers for parents and children waiting at the end of the alley and running close to the road. There have been a number of near miss incidents and parents are reminded to supervise their children at all times.

5) Toilets

Mrs Curtis shared that the replacement of the Key Stage 2 toilets has begun. The children have chosen the designs and colours and are thrilled to be having new facilities. We have worked hard to afford this important change.

6) Parent Workshops

Mrs Curtis promoted the workshops for parents that are running:

  1. Termly support for parents with Reading, Writing and Maths learning at home
  2. Monthly Parents Together group – a chance for parents to get together to support one another.

Please come along to any that interest you.

7) Earwig System for Early Years

Parents enquired about the use of the system and Mrs Rumsby explained that the school is changing providers as there are too many limitations with the service. The new service will be shared after half term in February.

8) Communication Systems

We explore the current systems and usefulness of each.

  • The Week Ahead that is emailed – all valued
  • Anomoly Screen – parents did not realise this had parental news on it. More work required by school to promote and use this to its fullest potential.
  • Website – used mostly for the Calendar
  • Texts – liked. School expressed how costly these are and how free emails are used more often.

9) Reception Class, Year 1 and 2G independent entry

Children need to learn to be more independent and should now be entering the locker areas alone, there is too much congestion. Members of staff will be at your classes entry point for any important messages and to supervise your children into school. If you want to talk to the teacher then book a meeting through the website www.ash-grange.surrey.sch.uk/ask-for-school-to-contact-parent or at the office, or catch them on the playground at hometime.

Staff are going to be on the entry points:

  • Reception and Year 1 children at the gate beside Year 1
  • Year 2D on the playground at the near end of the swimming pool

Thank you to all the Council and PTA members for attending and undertaking this important role in the school.

The next meeting is on Tuesday 7th May 2019 @ 9am
