Happy Springtime everyone, we hope you are enjoying the delights of the season as you are out and about. There is so much going on with learning, trips and events.
Today we were granted planning permission for our new fences and gates – yay! It has been months in the process now we can get building.
We welcome Mrs Rennie to our Nursery 1 team next week and Miss Allwood has joined our team of LSA’s supporting children across the school.
We are delighted to share that Mrs Chantler is having a baby, due the last day of the summer term! So birthing classes for Y5C then!
The Parent Council meeting is 9.30-10.30am on Tuesday 26th April, this will be an online meeting.
Please pass on to your Parent Council member ideas for improving or developing Ash Grange. Minutes of March meeting can be found on our website at www.ash-grange.surrey.sch.uk/parent-council-2/
Following feedback from the Parent Council about the number of emails coming out, we will be adding all updates to the school website news section directly – Please make sure to check the website frequently. Answers to most questions about school activities can be found on the website – if you see something missing, please do let the office know so it can be added.
Our fab PTA have decided to not run an Easter raffle this term, due to shortness of the term and low level interest by families in the Christmas raffle. There will be a raffle in the summer term and this in fact will be the last PTA event of the year and for this team the end of their role as PTA members. They have given many years to this role and we are so thankful to them.
We will not be having a PTA in the same sense going forward and will be exploring future models of fundraising with all parents and our Parent Council, if you have a view let me know.
We are submitting an entry for the Guildford in Bloom Gardening competition this year; we have won awards in the past. This year’s theme is the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
We will be building a wonderful throne and tea party table as a special garden within or next to the Nature Area. We are looking to build the structure from breezeblocks and then will fill all the holes with plants. Old teapots, cups, cake tins etc… will be repurposed for the top so please keep any chipped ones for us. If you would be able to help with the build, please let me know, if you are interested in gardening and can grow things at home for us, please let me know, if you want to help with it and are just keen, please let me know. We can provide seeds for growing at home. Mrs Cooper will be sending out a reply form on this soon. We will then get together to make it happen. Mrs Skinner and Mrs Du Plessis are helping to lead on this.
Comic Relief – next week
This Red Nose Day, the School Councillors have put together a week of fun to raise money for Comic Relief! For a one-off £2 donation (on Scopay) on Monday 14th March, all children are invited to wear red for the week leading up to Red Nose Day with a theme each day:
Each year group in turn will also be invited to a lunchtime of activities, including quizzes and games, with our school councillors. Details on their day will be given to the children in school.
This is an optional event. Those who do not donate should wear full school uniform
Red Noses are available to purchase on Scopay (whilst stocks last).
World Book Day
Everyone had a fabulous day dressing up as our favourite book characters, and all children received a free book. The children all got to see each other’s costumes as we had a practice fire alarm!
Charity fundraising
A huge well done to Aurora in Y5C who raised £30 through a bake sale for Tourettes Action, her class charity!
