As you are aware from the press, the NEU union is striking on a number of dates in February and March. You may be unaware that staff members do not have a duty to disclose their union affiliation, in fact it is protected data information and no-one can ask them to disclose it. The purpose of a strike is of course to alert the government to the dissatisfaction that is felt by the members of that union regarding terms and conditions; not because of any issues at our school. Staff members who are striking can leave it to the day of the strike to inform me of their intent to strike. The NEU has not informed me of any NEU members at Ash Grange.
I of course have in place arrangements to cover the classes in case of strike, we have 2 members of staff in each class and I can redistribute staff who normally cover classes to do so for the period of the strike. I will not know for sure where cover is required until the day of the strike.
We will be open and operating as normal, please send your child in as normal.
Kind regards
Mrs Curtis
