Tourettes Syndrome

You may be aware that we have a child in Year 5 with Tourettes.  I do not normally share this private information and have the child's parents' permission to do so.  Their tics (uncontrollable sounds, physical movements and swearing) are now happening at much more regular intervals and more children are becoming aware.  Obviously, this is really hard for the child as it can be embarrassing and disturbing to others learning and for them and we understand how difficult this is for them to cope with.

All of the children had an assembly on the condition today to understand what it is and how it presents itself; they are so kind in their understanding at the age-appropriate level.  I wanted to share with you in case they talked about it at home, if you want to know more about the condition here is the link: Tourettes Action (tourettes-action.org.uk)
