Well what a week, one we didn’t expect but if this helps stop this virus spreading then we will all do all we can to keep one anther safe. Thank you for your support, patience and feedback this week as we have set up key worker groups and online learning. The children have responded so well to the online learning and a full day schedule creates a sense of routine and normality amidst the different. The staff have had a very steep learning curve, as I’m sure have parents, with an average 75% of classes getting to the sessions and completing the work.
Parents have collected and where people have been too poorly we have distributed packs to every child in the school. Year 6, 5 and 4 were able to have a loan Chromebook, we can now offer these to Year 3 children. If your child needs their own device then please contact the office to arrange collection, we will set them up for you before you collect. If there are any left after Wednesday 13th January we will offer them to Year 2. The government have said we may receive more so I hope all who need one will be able to have them.
If anyone is having problems setting up the Chromebooks or home devices, please contact the office we will get you sorted, even if you need to pop in to do so. We do not want any child missing out on their valuable education and will do all we can to help support you. Parents you have been wonderful supporting, guiding and encouraging your children this week, we could not do this without you.
Next week we will be adding Assemblies, Me Time and Music lessons for the children, they will be added to the daily schedule and all available through Teams.
Next Friday (15th January) we will have Pack 2 ready for collection, this is a vital resource for the children as it has all activities they will need for online learning. We have learnt from the first one to label it for easier access. On Friday you can come to collect them at different times during the day, the teachers will be on hand, outside of online lessons to chat with. Please bring reading books for swapping and let us know if you need to loan and other resources.
Collections are from the back of the hall and timings are:
The government released yesterday the plan for this and have asked schools to manage this in the short term so today we organised vouchers for £15 per week per child. We have paid 2 weeks so that we will then know if the government are supplying the vouchers or if we are carrying on. All families will receive a payment of £30 per child in the next 2 days. If children are attending school as key worker children then parents will still receive the payment as there is no catering facility during this lockdown.
Once again thank you for all you have done to keep one another safe and support home learning.
Kindest regards and keep well
Happy New Year to our Ash Grange Community. I hope you all had an enjoyable Christmas and New Year, although I know it was certainly a bit different to normal. I must apologise for the delay in reviewing the Chairs Challenge entries, things got a bit hectic in the final week or so before schools broke up. We received 10 entries for the challenge, all of which were fantastic. I am so impressed with the different items the children created, not just as part of my challenge but seeing the nativity scenes created at home and all the other lovely pieces of work.
I’ve asked Mrs Curtis to add 100 house points for each entry – so a huge well done to Toby, Keira x 2 entries, Halle x 2 entries, Nikolay, Christopher, Jack, Lola and Teo
