Week Beginning 11th February 2019

Ash Grange Preschool, Nursery and Primary School.

Week beginning 11th February 2019

Dear Parents/Carers

I am delighted to share that last week Ash Grange was assessed against standards for our work in the area of Mental Health and Well-beingWe are proud to have been awarded this National Award developed in partnership with the National Children’s Bureau (NCB).  The Well-being Award for Schools is intended to help schools prepare and equip themselves to promote emotional well-being and positive mental health across the whole-school community. NCB’s vision, which we share, is an education system where good emotional well-being and mental health are at the heart of the culture and ethos of all schools, so that pupils, with the support of their teachers, can build confidence and flourish.

Thank you to those who share views, surveys and met with the assessors to share all that we do.

Mrs Hebberd (Year 5 LA) is leaving us at the end of the week to pursue becoming a legal secretary.  She has been a kind and dedicated member of staff for many years and is now ready to take on a new challenge.  The second teacher in Year 5 Miss Mole has been working for 3 days a week and will now be there full time.  This means Year 5 will have less change to have to manage and are very lucky to have 2 teachers in their class for the rest of the school year.

A groups of parents have come to share their desire to make Ash Grange “greener”.  We have shared all we do in the Eco Council and Curriculum but feel this is something we could develop further so are creating an adult Eco Council.  This is for parents interested in environmental matters to come together and share ideas and initiatives that could inform and inspire the children and community.  Come along to the first meeting at 2pm on 5th March to find out more.

Parent Together Group – met last week, sharing the fantastic “Love Languages” book, exploring communication and valuing ideas in the home.  Next month’s meeting is on Wednesday 13th March at 7pm or Thursday 14th March at 9am.

Parent Rep – Miss Bethan Waller is joining the Parent Rep group as the Year 2D rep.  Please share with her ideas and matters you would like to raise at the next Council meeting on Tuesday 7th May.

Kind regards,

Mrs Curtis
