Dear Parents/Carers,
It has been a photo week, from children having their first school picture of the year to making videos to share our wonderful school with visitors. I am so proud of Ash Grange, of all we provide and all we achieve as a school community, thank you for choosing Ash Grange.
Project Homework is due Friday 16th October
We are coming to the end of the first half term project and so the project homework is due by Friday 16th October, please make sure your child has completed their choice. Remember the teachers shared lots of ideas for projects which you can find on your child’s class page of the website: www.ash-grange.surrey.sch.uk/class-pages/
Pencil Cases
As the short term pencil cases we purchased are coming to the end of their life, the children have asked if they can bring in their own. Pencil cases are fine to come and remain at school but no content to prevent sharing of personal stationery. The children have everything they need at school. I know that if the pencil cases were see-through the teachers would be soooo happy.
Chair’s Challenge
A very big thank you and congratulations to MacKenzie, Annabelle, Hannah and Halle for taking part in the Chairs Challenge for Autumn. We had a beautiful autumn tree painted by MacKenzie with lovely orange and yellow leaves - it really captured that autumn feel! Annabelle painted a tree as well but this time, we had yellows, pinks and orange with a bright autumn sun - I'm sure I could see the sunlight glistening on the leaves! And finally, an amazing Autumn poem from Halle which really captured the spirit of the season! And a brilliant science piece from Hannah explaining why leaves change colour - its been a good few years since I learnt about this and well done on spelling chlorophyll, Hannah - I could never get the hang of spelling that one!
As we only had 4 submissions, I've decided to award all 4 entries 150 house points each, which is a great boost to their house colour teams. Really well done 🙂 and I can't wait to see what entries we will get for the Winter/Christmas challenge starting after half term!
Vicky - Chair of Governors
All received additional points for their House Teams.
If you want to see the current totals, look on the home page of the website
Harvest
This is a time of year when the Year 3 class prepare a special assembly for the school and their parents to help us appreciate the things we have and be aware of the needs of others. The event will be recorded and shared with classes and parents of Year 3.
Year 3 are asking all of us to help with our local food bank. We asked the Food Bank to compile a shopping list of needs which are: Custard, Rice Pudding and tinned carrots!
Which we will be buying these with the funds we raise.
Can you spare £2, if so please either pay through Scopay (www.scopay.com) online or send your contribution in through the office.
Incidentally Scopay is now our place for all payments from Nursery and Funzone session bookings to uniform, snack and PTA contributions for Fundraising.
Open Days for Reception 2021
This week we made our videos for promotions, the children were epic stars and will be a joy to watch, I will share the videos with everyone when all the editing is finished.
With Covid restrictions we are not having the traditional open events where visitors come into the school, enjoy tours with the children and have a presentation with me. Instead we have some alternative ways:
If you know of anyone who is in the midst of choosing their child’s Reception place then please let them know of our activities and dates:
Here is the link to the website page www.ash-grange.surrey.sch.uk/open-days-1/
Applications for September 2021 Secondary School places are now open at www.surreycc.gov.uk/schools-and-learning/schools/admissions/secondary/apply The closing date for on-time applications is 31 October 2020. Please contact the school office if you need help.
What if…
A number of parents have asked about our process if we have any highly probable cases or actual Covid cases. I have put together a template that we would use to share all the different actions we would take; take a look on the Coronavirus page of the website:
www.ash-grange.surrey.sch.uk/coronavirus-information/
This also has guidance on what you should do in case of symptoms or a positive test result.
Preloved Uniform
Thank you to parents/carers who continue to help towards reducing the amount of waste in the world by donating unwanted uniform. We have a variety of items and sizes available to order at no cost using Scopay. Just look for the Preloved items as you do new items.
Kindest regards
Mrs Marie Curtis
