Here we are in February already and the hope of springtime is calling. As you go out for your walks I wonder if you are spotting signs – I have seen snowdrop buds and tiny leaf buds all getting ready. This weekend if the RSPB annual Birdwatch, all you need to do is watch out of your window for an hour and share this with the charity – how many birds visit your area?
“Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, photography and film, and doing activities that make you feel good”.
This Year’s theme is Express Yourself, each day this week there will be a different focus:
MONDAY 1st February 2021 Assembly to launch the week:
The assembly will be available to all schools and families at 9am on Monday 1 February the link will be added to The Class assembly file on each Year’s Team pages. As the majority of children are now at home, the assembly will provide an easy way to bring the nation's children together (virtually) with a positive message about the power of creative self-expression. Famous faces and contributors will also be taking part live from their homes.

Due to the exceptional circumstances, with children in and out, shopping for only essential items and other things to worry about, the PTA have made the decision to cancel their Easter Raffle and Secret Mother’s Day gifts for this year. If you have already donated to these events and would like a refund please contact the office, all remaining funds will be put towards PTA fundraising.
In addition, our Class Christmas Parties which we have already postponed once, are now cancelled. Any money already paid will be added to child’s account. Simply let the office know when you wish to use it against a future activity, snack or event.
Surrey have lauuched a site to support families who may require some additional help: www.surreysfamilyhelphub.org.uk. This is designed for you to go to and see all that is available, they are starting with offering resources to help with behaviour issues.
As parents and carers you are always carrying a huge load and the current pandemic is adding to that. Sometimes you need to talk to others. I would like to offer every parent or carer some support through online groups or a personal call. If you want to join a chat with others or have a private conversation, then please email me to let me know: email@example.com; I’ll then set up groups and calls.
Attendance figures this week are below and much improved, thank you. Any families not engaging with online learning will be contacted this week to address this immediately to avoid the Local Authority’s involvement.
Early Years: Nursery 1 is 81%, Nursery 2 is 96% , Reception is 97%,
Key Stage 1: Year 1 is 79%, Year 2 is 87%
Key Stage 2: Year 3 is 93%, Year 4M is 96%, Year 4P is 92%, Year 5 is 93%, Year 6 is 93%
Congratulations to the winners in each Key Stage – Reception, Year 2 and 4M.
You may have heard that the government are providing staff with the opportunity to undertake lateral flow tests twice a week. In preparation we have begun testing and have had training and guidance from two wonderful parents who are trained nursing sisters, to which we are so grateful. This can enable us to see any asymptomatic cases and act quickly to prevent spreading.
With the current pandemic we are sadly unable to enjoy our planned trips to Oakwood for Years 5 and 6 and to Horseshoe Lake for Key Stage 2. All families who have paid a deposit have received notification to come and complete a refund via the card machine in the office. This can be done whilst collecting learning packs or at another time when booked through the school office.
The reality is we will not be running any trips until it is safe to do so and this is likely to be in the next school year.
Friday 29th January is the collection day for Pack 3 for every class from Nursery 1 to Year 6. These can be collected at any of the times below from the back of the hall, the teachers will be on hand, outside of live online lesson times, to chat with. Please bring reading books for swapping and let us know if you need to loan and other resources.
Collections are from the back of the hall and timings are:
10-10.30 am, 11.30-12 noon, 1.30-2 pm, 3-3.30 pm, 4-4.30 pm, 5-5.30 pm, 6-6.30pm
According to the government announcement on Wednesday 27th January, schools will not be opening before 8th March and this is date is dependent on cases, vaccination numbers and hospitalisations. So that we do not miss any learning days in the new half term, we will carry on with our two-week system so the pack for after half term will be ready for collection on the Friday before, 12th February, with normal collection slots. There will be no work set over half term as everyone deserves a break from schedules.
Thank you for all your support and kindness, keep well and safe.
