Week beginning 13th July 2020

I hope everyone is well and enjoying the lifting of lockdown rules.  I have so enjoyed all the foil art images that have been shared this week through the PTA page, what fun you are having.  There are 2 more weeks of resources for home learning.  This week there are Bouncy Ball making kits.I hope everyone is well and enjoying the lifting of lockdown rules.  I have so enjoyed all the foil art images that have been shared this week through the PTA page, what fun you are having.

There are 2 more weeks of resources for home learning.  This week there are Bouncy Ball making kits.

Next week (20.7.20) there are frames to sew and decorate.

When planning the resources, I wanted to provide something for the children to look forward to each week and things that would be fun with a learning focus – the pics and smiles have shown it has worked well.  Thank you for supporting the idea and coming each week to collect the weekly item.

Your children will return to school on Thursday 3rd September.

As you know over the last few weeks I have been sharing some of the changes and plans that we have for September.  We have created a special area of the school website www.ash-grange.surrey.sch.uk/getting-ready-to-move-up-september-2020/ to find all the details in one place.

Morning Drop off and Afterschool Pick Up

One of the biggest challenges in September will be creating social distancing at drop off and pick up points.   With all the children and parents together there will be many people and at all times we must protect the class bubbles that the children are in throughout the school day.  We want to reduce every possible chance of cross contamination.

No child (including Year 6 who are normally allowed to enter the site unaccompanied) will be allowed on site without adult supervision and the children cannot play with one another before school. Even if families mix outside of school there can be no mixing in school.

I know due to site size all other local schools are not opening their gates before school, I want to open our site at 8.30am so families do not have to queue outside near the roads.  But I can only do this if everyone abides by the rules of:

Supervise your child – no mixing on site – keep to 1 metre plus distance rule

So let’s plan for this and hope there will be no reason to have to lock the gates until 8.45am.

To spread the families out there will be different entrances for year band groups and a slight 5-minute staggering.  We are trying to create as much one-way as we can in and out.

Years 5, 6, Nursery 1 and 2 will enter and leave the site through the front small gate.

Year 5 and 6 will enter through the front gate, line up at their class point and be taken into school by their class teams at 8.45am.  Parents leave by the same front small gate unless they are then going to drop off a younger child.

At 9am Nursery 1 (previously called Preschool) parents bring their children to the new Nursery 1 gate, where staff will be ready to receive children. Parents do not enter the building.

At 9am Nursery 2 (previously called Nursery) parents bring their children to the normal Nursery entrance via the front door, where staff will be ready to receive children. Parents do not enter the building.

Reception and Years 1 to 4 will enter the site through the alley gate and go through the playground gate; parents will exit via the alley gate.  There will be 2 lanes in operation, 1 in and 1 out.

Year 3 and 4 will line up at their class point and be taken into school by their class teams at 8.50am.  Parents leave by the alley gate.

Year R, 1 and 2 will line up at their class point and be taken into school by their class teams at 8.55am.  Parents leave by side playground gate to the alley.

There will be lots of children and adults on the playgrounds so please spread out.  Do not let your child/ren play on any school equipment or bring any play items from home.

This process will allow time for parents to get in and out, supervise their children until the teacher collects the class and provide space for your and your child’s safety.  Everyone must be a part of this system and ensure all of our safety.  It is our collective responsibility to keep one another safe.

At hometime the teaching teams will bring the children to the same place on the playground for collection. As normal Reception to Year 2 leave at 3.15pm, Years 3-6 at 3.20pm.  Year 6 only can go home alone if parents have given written permission.

Again spread out and take time to exit the site safely by either the alley gate or front gate.

Staff will be around to guide and support the process as well.

Remember we have Funzone for 2-11 year olds before and after school for those families needing early drop off or late collection.

Snack Bar

In order to reduce the risk from coronavirus, snack bar will now be given out in classrooms with a single item on offer each day.  Each day will be a different item subject to availability. Where necessary we will substitute items of a similar type. Your child's snack will be taken to their classroom on the day.

Monday - YoYo Bear or Bear Fruit Paws
Tuesday - Veggie Straws
Wednesday - Smoothie Melts
Thursday - Oaty bars or Fruity Bakes
Friday - Popcorn

Following feedback from parents and pupils we have changed the way we manage snack bar on Scopay so you will now be able to see what days you have booked snack and your current balance,

Any balances left on snack bar this term have been carried forward to the new system.

Pupils in Years 1-6 are able to purchase a healthy snack for 50p per day. This must be paid for and ordered in advance online at www.scopay.com or through the school office (please state clearly which days you wish to order for).

For details of how to view your child's balance, top up and order future snacks (snack sessions) please read the attached parents’ guide. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

For all our bookworms – here’s a reading challenge
