Week beginning 15th June 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

With the government’s announcement that no further classes will be returning until September we have clarification and get plans in place.  I am sure like me this resulted in a mixed bag of feelings, we are so missing all of our dear and precious pupils but know that it is not yet safe enough for everyone to return.

So now that we have Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 groups in, with the key worker plus 5 classes we are all full; until the distance restrictions change.

We are putting into place rest of the summer plan and the new school year in September plans.

Over this term these things will happen:

  1. Free School Meal Vouchers will be sent out at regular intervals until the end of term.
  2. Home learning activities will be set twice a week for all children in and out of school.
  3. Home learning resources will be ready for each week of this half term.

Home Learning - Superdad!

This week we are getting ready for Father’s Day, to give that important adult (Dad, Grandad, Brother, Uncle, Family Friend) a thank you gift. Come to school to get a Super Dad Bookmark and keyring to make at home ready for Father’s Day. There is a choice of designs first come, first served.

These are only for the children who do not come into school on any day of the week, as children in school for any part of the week are using school resources. Of course if there are any left at the end of the week the children in school will be welcome to have them too.

In addition, there are some special year band items:

  • I have written to all the Year 5 children to invite them to apply for a special role in Year 6. The Year 6 children have made videos to find out more about the role but we have added some new ones too.

  • End of year and Primary School for Year 6.
  1. Hoodies are being ordered. We are unable to accept any further orders.
  2. Treasure boxes are here for the children to collect, decorate and return before the end of the month so we can fill them with memories of Ash Grange.
  3. A Leaver’s Assembly is being planned – the format will be organised based on the social restrictions.  I am hoping to be able to have the children and family in the hall to give all their special moment – I will confirm this in due course.  Please keep the last day of term free in the morning for some event.
  4. BBQ – we are planning a Year 6 leavers BBQ for September or when restrictions lift so everyone can get back together to say bye bye.

For September

We are planning for a full return of all classes with some restrictions on mixing in school and reducing risks for adults and children.  More details will follow when we know the government guidelines for that time.

We will be sending photos’ out of the class teams so the children know who their class teams are going to be. Details of the staff list for 2020-2021 were on last weeks newsletter.

This is Miss Gibbins last week as she prepares for her travels, we thank her for all her hard work, kindness and care of the children and community of Ash Grange and wish her every joy and happiness in the future.

Kindest regards, keep well

Mrs Curtis
