Week beginning 17th June 2019 - Feeling Good Week

What a wonderful week we just had, in all the rain!

  • All the classes had fun making Fruit Kebabs to enjoy a wider range of fruit and they were delicious.

  • On Tuesday our elite runners entered the first special event for long distance and showed great skill and determination; we are so proud of you all.

  • Chosen children enjoyed a Rotary Club day out in Aldershot, we were so grateful for this opportunity for our children.

  • On Friday the Year 4 children welcome visitors from Abbeywood to come and find out about our work towards the Peace Day on 20th July.The visitors and Year 4 planted poppies and enjoyed refreshments.A visitor came to teach the children how to sew and they used their skills to add names from the war memorial to each hand made poppy which will be displayed as part of the event.

The PTA have been preparing hard for the summer Fayre, gathering donations, preparing prizes and organising all the events.  Thank you to all in advance for your support with the Summer Fayre on the afternoon of June 28th, we couldn’t do it without you.  We really appreciate all your donations of gifts, cakes, time and money spent at the Fayre.  All the money raised will go towards paying for the new playground equipment.  The class teachers will be asking for support with running stalls so please let them know if you can help them run the 2 class stalls.

Spanish Teacher

This week we had held interviews again for a Spanish teacher, without success.  Having spent the last two terms trying to recruit a new Spanish teacher for KS2 we are now going to change our language provision to French which we can provide through Ash Grange staff.  We had been teaching Spanish because Secondary Schools were teaching French in Year 7 and any prior learning was restarted.  This year it has changed and now Spanish, French and German are being taught from Year 7 so we can adjust our teaching.  Therefore, from September Key Stage 2 will be learning French.  We will of course be enjoying songs and rhymes in French at Key Stage 1 but the government do not expect formal lessons to begin until key stage 2.
