Dear Parents/Carers,
Well what a scorcher this has been, so lovely but so hot; hope you are all well and not sunburnt!
There are never too many “thank yous” in the world and this week I wanted say a huge thank you to you, parents and carers. Over the last 3 months you have had to do so much more for your children. On top of all the loving, cooking, cleaning, sorting and providing there has been schooling too, whilst you juggle work, rest and play. You have helped, guided, puzzled with, encouraged and inspired them with the learning set by school and all the wonderful opportunities that you have made too. You are amazing and have done your very best and should be so proud of yourselves, how very lucky our children are to have you.
This week at school we have been continuing with the great classroom move that happens each year, with our two Year 3 classes becoming Year 4 and all the resources from each class it is a military operation. All the classes will be moving up; Year 3M will move to the current Year 4 room so that 3H will go into Year 3M – that way everyone moves rooms in September. All your child’s trays will be moved and any PE kits or personal items will be moved out of the lockers and kept safe until September. If your child has any trainers or pumps in school that you want to collect to be able to use over the next few weeks then let us know and we can locate them ready for you to collect.
9-10 am Leavers assembly, this will be a special chance for us to say bye-bye to our Year 6. Due to restrictions it will not have the normal format. We will be creating some celebratory activities and have time for us to honour every child.
We will be able to accommodate 2 adults per Year 6 child and children and adults will sit together. All children will need to wear their school uniform on the day.
10-12 noon Year 6 Pool and BBQ time. We are planning to give the children some time to be together with a open pool and BBQ. Children will need to wear swimming kit underneath their uniform so that they will not have to change. We will supervise them having fun.
12 noon – children are collected.
Wednesday 22nd July, school closes at 12.15pm for all children in school on that day (except Year 6 who are leaving at 12 noon)
It is so crucial that we are doing all we can to reduce waste in our world and creating a preloved uniform shop is one step to help this. In preparation for September we are creating two layers with orders. You can order:
As parents/carers kindly donate unwanted items we are going to manage this stock so you will be able to see it online and order it, as you do new items. Preloved items will have no cost. It will be going live in the next week and be part of the uniform ordering system on Scopay.
The children of current Year 5 will need a white shirt (short or long sleeved) in September as they will be wearing an Ash Grange school tie. Polo shirts will not be part of the Year 6 uniform. We want the Year 6 to stand out and show they are the top of the school so each child will be given a tie for free. Of course if they are wearing a school dress they will not wear a tie with it.
Only children in Year 6 will have this privilege.
Thank you to everyone for your replies about the rainbow towels and mugs, order forms will be out in the next week.
The free home learning resource for next week is a Bubble Kit – fun for everyone.
Pop in to collect from Monday.
As many parents find the title of Preschool confusing and think this is the year before Nursery, we are changing the title of the Preschool and Nursery to all coming under Nursery. In reality there will be a Nursery 1 class for 2-3 year olds and a Nursery 2 class for 3-4 year olds.
You may have noticed our new banner regarding the extension of the school day for our youngest children; it is called Teeny Funzone. Parents/Carers can book through the school office, it is £9 per am or pm session and it will run in our Nursery Rooms.
As you know we are planning for a full opening in September and are preparing, sorting and organising spaces and the timetables to make this happen. We have created a special area of the school website www.ash-grange.surrey.sch.uk/getting-ready-to-move-up-september-2020/ to find all the details in one place and then each week I will share plans with you.
As the rules on distancing are relaxed we need to keep bubbles (class groups) separately to reduce the risk of cross-contamination.
Classrooms and Equipment
We will be making a video of each classroom to share with the children in July, ahead of the summer so they are prepared for what their classroom will look like. So at the moment we are moving rooms all over the school and preparing spaces.
If you have any questions about practicalities please share them through office@ash-grange.surrey.sch.uk so we can problem solve this together.
Thank you for your application forms, I am really enjoying reading them. Remember all must be back to me by June 30th so I will know your choice of role.
Kindest regards, keep well
Mrs Curtis
