Week beginning 30.11.20

Thank you for all your donations for the Christmas Raffle today, we have bought in almost £500 which of course is going to make fantastic raffle hampers.  Here are some teaser photos, if you want any more raffle tickets please ask at the office. The draw is on Tuesday 15th December.  Please note we are going to simplify Scopay and only put on events a half term at a time so people can find things more easily.

It was lovely to see all the Christmas Cards, mugs, cushions and coasters designed by our talented children this week. Thank you to everyone who supported the PTA in this fundraising event, now we have seen how wonderful the gifts are we are planning to it again next year.

Our huge tree arrived today and next week the children will be decorating it with their home made decorations, the lights will be turned on next Tuesday; we’ll share some pics with you.

From Tuesday the children can wear Christmas socks, tights, hair bands – not head gear e.g. antlers.

Online Panto for all classes over the week of 7th December.

We have Christmas jumper day on Friday 11th December, which is also the day of the Christmas lunch in School (Nursery on Thursday 10th).

Recording our Nativity Sing along and Readings that we will be videoing over the last 2 weeks of term and sharing on the last week of term.

On the last day of term each class will be having their class party in the afternoon. We explored at Parent Council how to do this differently with Covid meaning we are not able to ask parents to bring in food therefore we will be purchasing on your behalf at a cost of 50p per child, please pay through Scopay.

Parent Council

The Parent Council met this week and we discussed lots of important things: Homework, Breaktimes, Video, Christmas, Parent/Teacher meetings, Queues in and out of school, School Photos, Writing Challenge.  The minutes are attached. Thank you to all our Council Members who were able to attend.

Year 5 Class

I am delighted to say that Mr Mayne is able to run a Together We Achieve programme for the Year 5 children who missed out during Year 4. This will run on a Tuesday morning and the children will need their PE kits for this.   Year 4 will still have their sessions on a Thursday.   How lucky our children are to have this outdoor PE and learning experience.

Year 3 Class

Even the visits are now getting online so the children of Year 3 met a special person from the Warburton’s Bakery this week. They had the chance to see the bread making process and find out lots about it. Ready for making bread this week – Bake Off is calling.

Extra Learning Opportunity (not class homework)

The Mini Winter Reading Challenge begins on Tuesday 1 December 2020.
Children can rate and review their books, collect rewards, and take part in Winter Mini Challenge activities through their website The Mini Challenge will end online on Friday 15 January 2021.

To support good punctuality, we have made some changes to our Attendance Policy.

Good punctuality at school is essential for children to achieve their full educational potential.  It is also vital for children to form good habits for later life.

To help make these improvements, we ask parents/carers to support us in maintaining good punctuality when dropping off and collecting their children.

From Monday 30.11.2020 any children arriving late for school (after 8.55am) Parent/carers will automatically receive a letter via email highlighting:

  • The number of minutes late
  • A reminder of when the school day begins.

If a child is late of five occasions in a half term you will be invited to attend a meeting with the Headteacher.

For children who are late being collected after school you will receive an automatic letter via email highlighting:

  • The number of minutes late
  • A reminder of when the school day ends.

If there is no improvement following our letter any future lateness longer than 10 minutes will result in your child being sent to Funzone, our after school care, for which you will be charged for a half session which costs £4.00 per child.

A full copy of our Attendance Policy is available via the school website.

Lockdown Number 2 Reminder

Thank-you all so much for your ongoing support of the social distancing safety measures in place on the school site, which are working so well.

From 2nd December our area will be in Tier 2 High Alert so our current practice will continue until guidance changes.

  • Only one adult per family to drop off/collect children. Where possible make this the same person each day and do not bring other children from your family unless there is no-one else to look after that child.
  • Please do not send older siblings to collect children unless you have no alternative.
  • When waiting to drop off or collect your child keep your distance from anyone from a different family.

Please see attached the Government guidance.

Family learning Bulletin

Please follow the link to find out more and enrol on online parenting courses from Family Learning.

Courses include topics such as  Maths, English for EAP parents, wellbeing and parenting.

I have already been asked for the term dates for next school year! I have set the INSET dates as well so you can book holidays and child care. Planning ahead, the term dates of academic year 2021-2022 are now available on our website at

Please ensure your child has their PE kit at school every day, so that they can enjoy PE and active sessions – it is so sad to see children missing out as we cannot provide spare kits.  We ask that kits come in on a Monday and stay all week till Friday.

Keep well, kind regards,

Mrs Marie Curtis
