To all of you lovely parents I am sharing a link to a fantastic speaker I have heard who has made a message to the parents https://www.bonjoro.com/g/GDHFMPugJ4d . She says it all, you do so much and you are writing your child’s story, this is a chapter and you are making it memorable. Keep it up, I sincerely hope we are on the home straight.
I hope the children really enjoyed all the fantastic activities linked to the national Children’s Mental Health Week, there was so much to experience. I have so enjoyed seeing all their self-expressions this week and I am so delighted in the uniqueness of the children and their self-awareness. I created a playlist of uplifting songs for EYRS +KS1 and KS2 to play over the week and any time. Parents and carers I’ve even made you one, hope you like my choices: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLxyJ0OnrKjRInFeJ6UsdS4KIfEAWurKE6

Weekly Challenge for children
Mr Rattan shared the wonderful Scout 100 challenges that are being set by their leaders this year. So, I am inspired to set you 3 weekly challenges to do, see how many you can achieve. If you have any pics of you completing the challenge send them via your private channel on Teams, enjoy. (If you have other Chinese recipes swap that for the stir fry idea)
Pack 4 Collection
Next Friday, 12th February is the collection day for the next pack which the children will need for lessons starting after half term (Monday 22nd February). Packs of learning materials can be collected at any of the times below from the back of the hall, the teachers will be on hand, outside of live online lesson times, to chat with.
If your child has reading books for swapping please bring them along.
Collections are from the back of the hall and timings are:
The staff are using the assignment feature on teams more and more, in addition to the paper resources so that the children can complete and share work more easily.
Surrey County Council are providing vouchers to those families who are eligible for Free School Meals and Early Years Pupil Premium over the half term, to the same amount as normal £15 per week. This is only for Benefits Related Free School Meal children, not for those in Reception and Key Stage 1 entitled to a meal when at school, this payment will resume after half term.
Due to the exceptional circumstances, with children in and out, shopping for only essential items and other things to worry about, the PTA have made the decision to cancel their Easter Raffle and Secret Mother’s Day gifts for this year. If you have already donated to these events and would like a refund please contact the office, all remaining funds will be put towards PTA fundraising.
In addition, our Class Christmas Parties which we have already postponed once, are now cancelled. Any money already paid will be added to child’s account. Simply let the office know when you wish to use it against a future activity, snack or event.
Surrey have lauuched a site to support families who may require some additional help: www.surreysfamilyhelphub.org.uk. This is designed for you to go to and see all that is available, they are starting with offering resources to help with behaviour issues.
Need to talk?
As parents and carers you are always carrying a huge load and the current pandemic is adding to that. Sometimes you need to talk to others. I would like to offer every parent or carer some support through online groups or a personal call. If you want to join a chat with others or have a private conversation, then please email me to let me know: email@example.com; I’ll then set up groups and calls.
Lateral Flow Tests
You may have heard that the government are providing staff with the opportunity to undertake lateral flow tests twice a week. In preparation we have begun testing and have had training and guidance from two wonderful parents who are trained nursing sisters, to which we are so grateful. This can enable us to see any asymptomatic cases and act quickly to prevent spreading.
With the current pandemic we are sadly unable to enjoy our planned trips to Oakwood for Years 5 and 6 and to Horseshoe Lake for Key Stage 2. All families who have paid a deposit have received notification to come and complete a refund via the card machine in the office. This can be done whilst collecting learning packs or at another time when booked through the school office.
The reality is we will not be running any trips until it is safe to do so and this is likely to be in the next school year.
Thank you for all your support and kindness, keep well and safe.
