Dear Parents/Carers,
The sun is well and truly here and it’s time to get sun safe. Please ensure your child comes to school with a water bottle, sun cream already on and spare for later and a hat.
July is Plastic Free Month – a time to try and cut down on single use plastic. With this in mind children are being encouraged to use water bottles again and again – this is one of the highest waste products in our school. Also tokens are being given for use again pots for breaktime and lunchtime snacks. There are lots of lovely ideas on the Plastic Free Sheet that is attached. Consider this if every one of 66 Million people in the UK stopped using one single use plastic item in July (and beyond) that would be 66 million less pieces to recycle!
The children are enjoying visiting their new classes, they will not know the name of their new teacher/learning assistant until 19th July.
On 20th July there is a Peace Day celebration at the Ash Centre to celebrate the end of WWI. The children have been learning about all the soldiers on the memorial, seeing childhood pictures and bringing the names to life. Year 4 have helped to sew name badges for the poppies that will be hung in the hall.
All the children will be bringing a poster home this week to colour, if you are happy to support this event, can you please put it in your window to advertise this community event.
Kind regards
Marie Curtis

Monday 15th July |
On Monday 15th July the whole school will be taking part in a picnic lunch together to remember Mr Redding (our former Site Manager). I want to honour the anniversary of his death in a positive way and to allow the children space to share memories and talk about him, as they desire.
A picnic lunch will be available from the school kitchen for those who normally have a school dinner. There will not be a hot dinner option available. If the weather is bad, we will hold the picnic in the school hall.
