Week beginning 8th June 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

Well we are back and this week’s changes have gone so well, thank you to everyone for your support with all the changes.  So now we have our 5 classes of Key Worker children, plus a class for Year 1 and one for Year 6 children (with rotations of groups over the week).

From Monday we start welcoming Reception and Nursery groups back to school. Those families who have selected to send their children back to school have set days and times.

Newly returning Reception children will be learning in our Nursery Class, so on Wednesday and Thursday:

  • At 9am Reception group enter via small main gate and children enter the building through Nursery sliding door entrance to school.
  • At 3.20pm - Reception group exit from Nursery main gate (front of school)

Newly returning Nursery children will be learning in our Preschool Class, so on Monday and Tuesday:

  • At 9am Nursery group enter via small main gate, go across the top playground and enter through the old outreach gate into the preschool room.
  • At 3pm - Nursery group collected at old outreach gate exit through the alleyway side gate.

For all families coming to school, please enter the site and collect from the site at the times allocated to reduce any risk of contamination.  To help us to keep everyone safe, can we remind parents please to keep their children with them at all times on school grounds and not to allow them to run off to other areas of the playground or to mix with other people. The Bubble system relies on children in different groups not mixing with other groups.

For Key Worker families please note there is no flexibility on your allocated days or the possibility of more days because our numbers are now at maximum.

Home Learning

Staff are continuing to set online homework twice a week, which all children will be completing online at home and in school.   The new projects for the half term are on your class page and teachers have set three weekly challenges for children at home and in school.

Home learning resources for this week - Time for some fun growing time.

This week’s home learning is an Animal Grass Head. There is a choice of animals, first come, first served.

These are only for the children who do not come into school on any day of the week, as children in school for any part of the week are using school resources. Of course if there are any left at the end of the week the children in school will be welcome to have them too.

Year 6 Children

Current Year 6 children’s parents have received the details of how to order an end of primary school hoodie. Please order by Thursday 11th June (this week!) at

We are unable to accept any late orders.

We have ordered the blank treasure boxes for leavers contents, once they have arrived Year 6 children will need to collect one, take it home to decorate and then return it ready for secret contents at the end of the term.

Year 5 Children

Year 6 children in school are making a video to tell you all about the roles and responsibilities, once this is ready you will receive this and your application form for the Year 6 opportunities.

Reception Class September 2020

Parents/carers were sent a welcome pack this week with all the details of the new Induction programme. Remember you have a dedicated section on the website with copies of forms and the presentation about events so that you are fully informed.

Staffing for 2020-21

I know this is being announced a little earlier than normal but I want the children to know so that they can get ready for the year ahead, something lovely to look forward to.  Who knows what the government will say about return dates and patterns, but we do know who will be where.

There are 3 staff leaving this summer, Mr Terry, Miss Gibbins and Miss Hopkins who are off to pastures new, to seek new challenges.  We thank each one of them for all they have given to Ash Grange and wish them well on their new adventures. Miss Gibbins had resigned for June 19th in anticipation of travelling abroad, so will be leaving us then.  Mrs Sawyer and Mrs Rumsby will be overseeing Year 2 until the end of the school year.  Mr Terry and Miss Hopkins are here until the end of term.

With all the disruption and changes this year I wanted to provide some continuity for the children, if they have not had their teacher for 2 years already in the case of Year 1.  We are welcoming three new members of staff, all very experienced teachers.

See photos for details.

Class Locations, due to 2 classes in Year 3.

Year 3H will be moving to where Y3M are currently, Y3M will be moving to where Year 4 are currently and Year 3 in September will be where 3H are currently – i.e. everyone moves a room.

Kindest regards, keep well

Mrs Curtis
