Safer Internet Day

As we celebrate Safer Internet Day on 10th February, with this year’s theme: “Smart tech, safe choices – Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI.”
With AI becoming a bigger part of everyday life, it’s important that children understand how to use smart technology safely and confidently.

This year, Safer Internet Day will help young people explore how AI works, how it can be used positively, and what responsible use looks like. Free resources, activities, and guidance will support schools, parents, and carers in talking to children about using AI safely.

How you can support your child at home:

  • Talk openly about how they use AI tools, apps, and smart technology.
  • Encourage curiosity and help them question information they see online.
  • Discuss responsible choices, such as protecting personal information.
  • Explore AI together, using trusted resources and age-appropriate tools.

For more information including resources, top tips, and activities please follow the link here.

Together, we can help young people make safe, informed choices in a world shaped by smart technology.

Attendance

We would like to remind you that a Leave of Absence Form must be completed online or in the office for all medical and dental appointments. For any other circumstances, please complete the form at least two weeks before the requested date. Additionally, please provide evidence to support your request. Forms should be submitted in advance, not on the day of the appointment.

Where possible, we kindly ask that appointments be scheduled outside of school hours to minimize disruption to learning.

Please refer to our Attendance Guide for Parents on our website under 'Attendance 2025-26'. This is a termly reminder to ensure all parents/carers have the most up-to-date attendance information.

Attendance Information:

If you take your child out of school without the approval of the school, you will be liable to receive a penalty notice per parent/carer and the following will apply:

1. If you have not incurred a penalty notice relating to this child/these children since 19 August 2024, then the penalty notice will be charged at the rate of £160.00, per parent/carer per child, if paid within 28 days. This will be reduced to £80.00 if paid within 21 days of receipt of the notice. Failure to pay the Penalty Notice will result in Surrey County Council considering legal proceedings against you in the Magistrates Court.

2. If you have incurred a penalty notice relating to this child/ these children since 19 August 2024, the rolling 3 year period will be activated from the date of the first penalty notice and the second penalty notice will be charged at the flat rate of £160.00, per parent/carer per child, if paid within 28 days. There will be no reduction for payment within 21 days. Failure to pay the Penalty Notice will result in Surrey County Council considering legal proceedings against you in the Magistrates Court.

3. If you have incurred 2 penalty notices relating to this child/ these children in the rolling 3 year period since the first penalty notice was issued, then you will NOT receive a third penalty notice – Surrey County Council will have no option but to consider a prosecution, per parent/carer per child, in the Magistrates Court under s 444 Education Act 1996.

All guidance explained here refers to the School’s Attendance Policy on our website, which was developed in response to UK Government Law and the statutory attendance guidance — Working together to improve school attendance—from August 2024.

January Attendance

Despite the colder weather this month, our children have continued to show great commitment by coming into school ready to learn. We’re really proud of their attendance throughout January and are pleased to share the results:

  • Reception H: 95.37% average attendance, 20 children with 100% attendance
  • Reception M: 96.71% average attendance, 17 children with 100% attendance
  • Year 1: 96.40% average attendance, 20 children with 100% attendance
  • Year 2: 94.21% average attendance, 19 children with 100% attendance
  • Year 3: 94.21% average attendance, 22 children with 100% attendance
  • Year 4: 90.09% average attendance, 12 children with 100% attendance
  • Year 5: 93.63% average attendance, 15 children with 100% attendance
  • Year 6: 95.37% average attendance, 19 children with 100% attendance

To celebrate excellent attendance in January, all children who achieved this will receive a certificate. They’ll be invited to choose a special reward, either a free snack from the snack bar or a gift from the prize box, which includes items like a ruler, rubber, or small accessories as a token of recognition.

A huge well done to everyone for starting the new year with such enthusiasm and resilience. January can be a challenging month with the colder weather and darker mornings, but our pupils have shown fantastic dedication. Let’s keep this positive momentum going as we move into February!

Parents Evening

About 55% of parents/carers have already signed up for a parents’ evening slot. Ideally, we would like this to reach 100%. You still have time to log in and sign up by Friday, 13th February. Please use the link that was sent out on 12/01/2026.

Textile Recycling

A reminder to all families that our permanent textile collection bank is now available on the school site. You can donate good-quality clothing, shoes, accessories, bedding, and soft toys at any time throughout the year.

How to donate:

  • Drop bags at the school office and a member of staff will place them in the textile bank, or
  • If you have several bags, please ring the office to arrange access to drive down and unload directly.

The bank is emptied every two weeks, and all donations help support our school fundraising (we receive 10p per kilo). Items are reused in communities across Eastern Europe and Africa or recycled into useful materials, helping to reduce textile waste.

What can be donated:

  • Clothing (including branded uniform)
  • Pairs of shoes
  • Accessories (hats, scarves, gloves, handbags, belts, etc.)
  • sheets
  • Duvet Covers
  • Pillow Cases
  • Soft toys

Donations can be placed in any plastic bag.
