Message from Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we reach the end of a wonderful half term, I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on some of the many successes we have celebrated together as a school community.

Harvest Celebrations

Today we enjoyed a fantastic Harvest Assembly presented by our Year 3 children. They taught us so much about the importance of sharing, caring for others, and building strong communities, both locally and across the wider world. Their message was thoughtful, inspiring and a reminder of the values we strive to live by every day at Ash Grange.

Following the children's lead, we launched our Harvest Appeal with a challenge to collect 400 items of food. I am delighted to say that this challenge was not only met but exceeded. Together, we have collected over 400 items of food.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed. These donations will be distributed to local families and food banks, and we are incredibly grateful for every single item received.

Cake Sale Success

A huge thank you to everyone who donated cakes for our Harvest Cake Sale. It was such a success that we actually ran out of cakes!

Special thanks must also go to the group of Year 3 parents who kindly volunteered their time to sort, bag and organise the cakes, as well as run the sale itself. We are incredibly grateful for your support.

The cake sale raised an amazing £318. As a school, we have matched this amount, bringing the total to £700, which will be donated to the British Red Cross Nepal Crisis Appeal. We are proud to support this important cause and thankful for the generosity of our school community.

Changes to Exhibitions

Over recent weeks, we have been reflecting on how our exhibitions are organised and the impact they have on our children. As a result, we have decided to move to a termly exhibition model with more after school opportunities.

Exhibitions will now take place at the half-term point of each term, with the next exhibition scheduled for February half term.

To make these events more accessible for families, exhibitions will run over four days: Monday to Thursday after school. This will provide parents with more time to enjoy and celebrate their children's learning while minimising disruption to classroom routines.

There will be no morning exhibitions. For some children, particularly our younger pupils, saying goodbye after parents have visited during the school day can be difficult. Holding exhibitions after school will help create a calmer and more positive experience for everyone.

We also recognise that there are many events throughout the year, and we want to ensure families can enjoy them without feeling overwhelmed by competing commitments.

Parent Lunches

You may have seen in the calendar a change to how we are doing parental lunches this year. Due to our increasing pupil numbers, there will be one Parent Lunch per class, per year. These events will run from January through to July, with approximately one event taking place each month.

These lunches provide a special opportunity for a parent, grandparent or relative to enjoy a meal with their child during the school day. To ensure each event remains manageable and enjoyable, lunches will be organised by individual class rather than key stage.

Please note:

  • The lunch is for children in the specified class only.

  • Siblings will not join the event.

  • We want this to remain a special occasion focused on that particular class and child.

Moving to class-based lunches will help create a calmer environment and allow us to accommodate potentially 30 visitors for that class.

The dates have been published on the school calendar and will be live on Scopay for booking.

Parking Working Group

After half term, I will be inviting interested parents to join a Parking Working Group.

This group will work alongside school staff, local residents, highways representatives and the wider community to explore solutions to the ongoing parking challenges around the school.

By working together and combining ideas, we hope to develop a practical and sustainable plan that improves safety and consideration for everyone.

If you are interested in being part of this group, further information will follow after half term.

Thank You

It has been a wonderful half term. Our children have settled brilliantly, worked incredibly hard and achieved so much already this year. We are extremely proud of everything they have accomplished.

I would like to thank our dedicated staff for their unwavering commitment, our amazing children for being such superstars, and our parents and wider community for the genuine partnership and support you show every day.

Together, we make Ash Grange a truly special place to learn and grow.

I wish you all a restful and enjoyable half term break and look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 2nd November 2026.

Kind regards,

Mrs Curtis

Harvest Festival Donations

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of you for your incredible generosity and support during our Year 3 Harvest Festival and food collection.

Thanks to your donations, we have been able to make a significant contribution to both the Farnham Foodbank and our local church, St. Peter’s Church foodbank.

Your kindness will make a real difference to those in need within our community, especially during these challenging times. We are so proud to see the collective spirit of care and compassion within our school.

Breakfast Club

Following our Breakfast Club trial this week, we are pleased to confirm that Breakfast Club will continue after the half-term. Bookings can be made on SCOPAY under Breakfast 8:20am.

Healthy Lunchboxes

As part of our continued focus on promoting healthy choices, after half term we will be encouraging children to bring a healthy and balanced packed lunch to school.

Staff will be keeping an eye on lunchboxes and supporting children in making healthy choices.

Please see link here for Healthy Lunchbox Guidance, which includes some helpful ideas and suggestions for what to include in your child’s lunchbox.

We appreciate your support in helping us encourage healthy eating habits for all our children.

Anti-Bullying Week

During the week of 16th November, we have a range of activities planned to promote respect for all and teach students how to address bullying if they see or experience it. More information to follow.

To support Children in Need, on Friday 20th November 2026, the children can come to school wearing their pyjamas. A donation of at least £2 is required to show our support for this charity.

Donations can be made through Scopay. Please note that no merchandise will be sold at school. All money raised will go directly to the charity.

These lunches provide a special opportunity for a parent, grandparent or relative to enjoy a meal with their child during the school day. To ensure each event remains manageable and enjoyable, lunches will be organised by individual class rather than key stage.

We are excited to welcome the Scholastic Book Fair to school from Monday, 30th November to Thursday 3rd December. This is a wonderful opportunity to pick up some lovely Christmas presents. You can visit the fair before school from 08:30 to 08:55 and after school from 15:00 to 15:45. Prices range from £2.99 to £10.99. More information will follow closer to the date.

To make this event a success, we would greatly appreciate some help from parents to assist at the book fair after school. If you are available and willing to lend a hand, please contact the school office. Your support would mean a lot to us!

Pantomime Year 1 to Year 6

After the great success of last year's pantomime, we are delighted to share that once again we have arranged a special in-school performance for our children - this year the pantomime is Aladdin!

A professional theatre company will be visiting our school to perform this classic tale, promising a magical and memorable experience for all on 9 December.

The performance will be organised into two groups:

Group 1: Year 1, Year 2 & Year 3
Group 2: Year 4, Year 5 & Year 6

The cost of this special performance is £4.40, which can be paid via your Scopay account under Trips/Events, selecting "Aladdin Pantomime 2026." Alternatively, payment can be made by cash or card at the school office.

Please note that all payments must be made by 4 December to ensure your child's participation in this event.

For any child who does not wish to participate in the pantomime, a quiet classroom space will be provided, and there will be no cost involved.

If your family is currently experiencing financial hardship, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Curtis directly. We want every child who wishes to enjoy this experience to be able to do so.

We are looking forward to a wonderful performance that the children are sure to enjoy!

Open Days

There are just two Open Day events remaining for families considering Ash Grange for September 2027. These visits offer the chance to see the school in action, enjoy a pupil-led tour, and attend a presentation from the Headteacher.

To book a place, please complete the online booking form here.

Please note that, unfortunately, we are unable to offer tours outside these scheduled dates.

Pre-Loved School Uniform Available

Thanks to the generosity of our school community, we have a range of donated pre-loved school uniforms available in the school office. These items have been kindly donated by our community to our community. If your child could benefit from any uniform items, please pop into the office and help yourself.

While all items are free of charge, any voluntary donation would be greatly appreciated and will help us continue to support families within our school community.

Party Box Hire Available!

Planning a birthday party or special celebration? Why not hire one of our Party Boxes!

Each Party Box contains a selection of party items and can be hired for just £3.00, plus a refundable £10.00 deposit (£13.00 total). If you would like to hire the complete set of items, the cost is £3.00, plus a refundable £20.00 deposit (£23.00 total).

Your deposit will be returned once all items are returned within 48 hours, clean and in good, usable condition.

Please note that if any items are lost or damaged, replacement costs will be deducted from the deposit. Many items are purchased in sets of eight, so where a full set requires replacement, the cost of replacing the entire set will apply.

For more information or to book a Party Box, please contact the school office.

Recycling at Ash Grange

We are collecting hard to recycle items to help save our planet!

At Ash Grange, we collect milk bottle lids, biscuit wrappers, cheese wrappers, used stamps, old coins and bras. The bras will be sent to girls and women in Africa.

If you have any of these items and want to recycle them, there is a collection point in the Eco Shop at the entrance of the school. You can leave these in the appropriate drawer in the Eco shop, and we will recycle them!

Additionally, you can bring clothing for recycling to the office any time!

Thank you for helping us make the world greener and support communities!

Textile Recycling

A reminder that the collection bank is available all year round. You can donate clothing (including branded uniform), pairs of shoes, accessories, soft toys, and sheets at any time. Items can be dropped at the office or, for larger amounts, you can arrange access to drive down and unload.

All donations are reused or recycled, helping reduce textile waste while supporting our school.

What can be donated:

  • Clothing (including branded uniform)
  • Pairs of shoes
  • Accessories (hats, scarves, gloves, handbags, belts, etc.)
  • sheets
  • Soft toys

Donations can be placed in any plastic bag.
