What is a Shadow?

Make some shadow drawings - using some coloured chalks in an outside space or paper, pens and a torch inside can you trace around some shadows? Can you trace around some of your favourite toys or even yourself?

Super Listening

Encourage your child to cover their eyes or use a soft scarf to create a loose eye covering, then walk together around the house whilst you create different sounds e.g flushing the toilet, shutting a door, shaking an instrument or toy. Encourage your child to guess what the sound is, after a few turns swap roles.  Take care not too fall over, and have fun.

Marvellous Maths

How many different things you can count, count toys, fruits, teddies, or how many jumps you can do. Then count how many steps it is to the kitchen and how many to the door.

18.5.20 Home Learning

We are all experiencing very different times at the moment, so it is very important to stop and have a think about how you and the people around you are feeling?

Ask your child the following questions –and then encourage them to ask you some questions too.

  1. What makes you feel happy?
  2. What can you do if you feel sad or angry?
  3. Has anybody surprised you today?
  4. What makes you feel scared or worried?
  5. Tell me about something very exciting?

Did you know, dancing, jumping, reading a book, playing with your favourite toy and cuddles all make you feel super happy and smiley!

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum which uses continuous play and exploration to learn. Adults plan both adult led and child initiated activities that enable the children to develop social skills, self confidence and independence in a range of contexts.

At Ash Grange we encourage our children to get messy and have fun outside in all weathers therefore we ask that your child is dressed in appropriate clothing suitable for the various activities and all weathers.

Please remember to bring:

In case of accidents all children need

  • a spare set of clothes and pants which remain at school.
  • Wellies
  • No laces on shoes, velcro fastenings are ideal for this age.
