RAGS2RICHES & New Permanent Textile Bank

Textile collection bank

Dear Parents/Carers,

We would like to let you know about an update to our clothing fundraising.

The planned collection RAGS2RICHES on 10th February will not go ahead. But we are pleased to confirm that a permanent textile collection bank is now available at school, allowing families to donate good‑quality clothing, shoes, and textiles at any time during the year.

How the new system works:

  • A textile bank will be permanently available on the school site
  • You may:

    • Drop bags into the school office, and a member of staff will take them to the collection bank, or
    • If you have several bags, please ring the school office and we will allow access for you to drive down and unload directly.

  • The collection bank will be emptied every two weeks, or sooner if it becomes full.

  • The textiles they collect are either sent to Eastern Europe or Africa to be used again or converted into insulation materials and industrial cleaning wipes.

All donations support school fundraising throughout the year, with 10p per kilo donated directly to the school, while also helping to reduce textile waste and support communities through clothing reuse.

What can be donated:

  • Clothing (including branded uniform)
  • Pairs of shoes
  • Accessories (hats, scarves, gloves, handbags, belts, etc.)
  • sheets
  • Duvet Covers
  • Pillow Cases
  • Soft toys

Donations can be placed in any plastic bag.

This new system allows for greater flexibility and ensures fundraising can take place all year round, rather than a few set collection dates.

Did you know? Clothes can take up to 40 years to decompose and shoes up to 1,000 years to break down, yet around 95% of textiles can be recycled or reused.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

Best wishes
