Welcome to our Reception Classes page. Here, you can find out more about the exciting learning and activities taking place in our classes.

From September 2026: 

PE on Wednesday and Friday for both RH and RM class - PE Kit to be worn to school.

  • Worry Form It can feel scary to have a worry and it helps to talk it through and work out how to manage this worry. You can talk to a trusted adult, sibling or friend at home or at school. You can call Childline too on 08001111. Do you have a worry that you need to share with an adult at school? if so complete this form or talk to an adult at school as soon as you can. If you fill in this form it will go to Mrs Curtis and she will come and talk to you about it the next day you are in school.
  • Someone is not safe If you or someone you know feels scared or frighted by someone else, we are here to help. You can talk to a trusted adult at home or at school. You can call the Police on 999 or Childline too on 08001111. If you fill in this form, it will go to Mrs Curtis and she will come and talk to you about it as soon as she can.

Half Term Project Details and Homework Ideas 

Reception – Why do squirrels hide their nuts? 

The new projects run for the second half of the Autumn term.  

Homework contributions can be made throughout the half term and due by Friday 4th December.  

For this half term our project is Why do squirrels hide their nuts?  

Below are some ideas, try one of these or something else project related 

  • You could go on an autumn walk and collect some autumn leaves and use them to make a picture or collage. 

  • Make a leaf or bark rubbing. 

  • Make a firework picture. 

  • Draw a picture of a woodland animal. 

  • Go on a bug hunt and draw a picture of things you found. 

 

We will be displaying all of the children's work. We look forward to seeing your creations.  

 

The Early Years Curriculum

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum which uses continuous play and exploration to learn. Adults plan both adult supported and child initiated activities that enable the children to develop social skills, self confidence and independence in a range of contexts.   


Please remember to bring:

In case of accidents all children need;

  • A spare set of clothes; including pants, socks, a top and bottoms, which remain at school in their locker. 

They also need;

  • their book bag and water bottle everyday.
  • no laces on school or PE shoes, velcro fastenings are ideal for this age.

Reception Reminders

  • Reception homework is set on Friday each week and is sent home through a Pupil Asset email.
  • Each week the children should recap their Little Wandle sounds and tricky words from the week and read both their class book and reading scheme book as many times as possible.
  • All information to Reception parents is sent via email. In addition to any general information each child has one observation per week.  
  • Medical Tracker is the app the school uses to email you regarding any first aid or medication that has been administered to your child. You will receive this information by email.

Class Assembly Dates

Here are the dates for your class assemblies this year, we hope you will come and join us at 9am in the hall.

Reception Class M:

  • Friday 14th May 2027

Reception Class H:

  • Friday 9th July 2027

 

Special Events

  • Wednesday 9th December at 2.30 pm RM Singalong with parents.
  • Friday 11th December at 2.30pm RH Singalong with parents. 

Two adult family members are welcome to join the class to sing along to some festive songs and enjoy a sweet treat. Younger siblings welcome at this event. 

  • Friday 5th March at 2pm Mother's Day event.

One female relative e.g. mother, grandmother, auntie. (Please no siblings) is welcome to join the class to spend some time taking part in some Mother's Day activities.

  • Friday 18th June 2027 at 2pm Father's Day event.

One male relative e.g. father, grandfather, uncle. (Please no siblings) is welcome to join the class to spend some time taking part in some Father's Day activities.

Friday 12th March 2027 - Parent Lunch 

Wednesday 26th May 2027 - Sports Afternoon 2-3pm
