Maths book for homework
Dear Parents/Carers,
After listening to pupils and parents' views about homework, we are going to trial using a maths book for homework for the rest of the school year.
We shall not be using Mathletics during the trial and instead, each child in Years 1-5 will be given a Maths Homework Book. This is part of the school maths scheme, called White Rose. Y6 will continue with their current homework books, so will not be receiving an additional one this time.
Each week children will be set specific pages to complete at home, these are in line with their maths learning in school that week.
Homework books can be returned once completed, but all books must be in on a Thursday morning so that teachers have a day to mark them before setting new homework on the Friday.
Each book costs £5.50 so you can see this is a significant investment for the children. It is your child's responsibility to look after this book, to carry it home in a safe bag and return it on completion. If the book is lost, parents will be expected to pay for the replacement.
The books have a knowledge and facts page to support the unit and we think they will support your child's learning well and also give you some top tips when supporting your child. Please do not do your child's homework, if they are stuck the teacher needs to know.
Thank you for your support with this change and we welcome any feedback as we review their impact.
Best wishes
Miss Mole
