Kids online safety

New online safety resource from Surrey, developed in partnership with the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), to support parents and carers keep children safe online.

Dear Parents/Carers,

We would like to share a new online safety resource from Surrey, developed in partnership with the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), to support parents and carers keep children safe online.

The Kids Online Safety website provides clear, practical advice on supporting children with online issues, including understanding and responding to harmful content such as misogyny. It offers guidance on:

  • what misogyny is and how it can affect children
  • why it’s important to talk about this topic
  • how to recognise signs your child may have seen harmful content
  • ways to support and have open, positive conversations at home

The campaign has been created to help parents feel more confident starting conversations with their children about what they see online, alongside tips on safety settings and age‑appropriate guidance.
