Being Green At School and Home

19.1.24  Dear Parents/Carers,

At Ash Grange you know we are constantly seeking ways to reduce our impact on waste.  We are focusing our efforts on reducing waste of clothing and footwear.  Here are the changes we are making:

  1. Our Preloved is being renamed Eco Uniform.
  2. Please donate to us any clean/good condition items as your child/ren outgrow them – coats, school uniform, PE items, trainers, plimsols, shoes, pants, socks and tights.
  3. We will provide you a new label for any item in the Eco Uniform shop - We says: I helped the planet ____________
  4. If you bring an item, then take an item.
  5. Parents have said they would like to make a donation so there will be a donation pot – max 50p per item, but of course don’t feel obliged.
  6. Any monies will be used to buy items from charity shops to stock our Eco Uniform shop.
  7. Buy new items if you have to but stop at the Eco Shop first.
  8. We will have more storage and want to open this at least twice a week; you can pop in anytime.

We need some volunteers to run this for our community; 2 days a week 9-9.30 or 2.30-3pm – let me know if you have time to help with this venture.

We are looking to add items to the Eco Shop that everyone would like. We are able to buy items through the In Kind charity for a massively reduced price.  So we are going to make this available to you – our first items are toothpastes, deodorants, sanitary products, soaps and tissues.  All are good brands and will all be on sale for 75p each; families can buy up to 2 of any products in the shop.  We will let you know when the items arrive so you can purchase. To reduce costs, it will be a cash system, so we don’t have to pay credit card charges.  The front entrance of the school will be our shop location.

The Rags 2Richescompany will be back at the end of February so you can start sorting and bringing in bags of items when you are ready.  Here is the link to the website to know what you can and can not put in the bags.

Caring for this planet and the precious humans and animals on it is vital for us all and I al so proud that we are trying to do more. Thank you for your support and I hope you will share any great ideas for this work with me so we can do more and help our planet more.

Kind regards,

Mrs Curtis
