Computing Statement of Intent
Through our computing programme at Ash Grange, we aim to equip children with the necessary skills to thrive in today’s digital world by developing their ability to use a range of technologies and to do so safely. We recognise that computing is a daily part of 21st Century life and strong computing skills can open doors to a range of careers.
Our curriculum is rooted in the National Curriculum Programme of Study for Computing and we have used this to develop a school model of the 4Cs of Computing: Communicate, Create, Code and Careful. Children will experience a half-termly project on each of the Cs (Communicate, Create, Code) which complements their class topic. This will be supported with a Careful lesson to ensure children are digitally literate and able to navigate their project safely. This begins in the Early Years Foundation Stage through Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Physical Development; Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design. By the end of their Ash Grange journey, children will be familiar with a range of programmes and devices, ready for their next steps in KS3 and beyond.
Computing Certificates
Each year group have at least 3 projects over the year to practise the 4C elements. Please see the certificates below to see the experiences and skills in each year group!
