In addition to our sports clubs and competitions, we offer a range of enrichment opportunities for all children at Ash Grange Nursery and Primary School. Every year we invite specialist sports coaches into school to deliver sessions to our pupils. Looking ahead to the 2024-25, we have exciting plans to deliver whole-school gymnastics, skipping and golf enrichment days. 

Stellar Gymnastics

In the Autumn term, we were delighted to welcome Hannah from Stellar Gymnastics to Ash Grange. Hannah worked with every class from Year R to Year 6, helping children to improve their shapes, jumps, balances, rolls, cartwheels, handstands, and vaulting skills. A big thank you to Stellar Gymnastics for providing a wonderful experience for our children.  

Sports Leadership

Children in Years 5 and 6 can apply to be sports leaders at the start of each academic year. In order to be successful, children must explain why they will make a good sports leader, and outline the experience that they already have which will help them in the role. They can do this by writing a letter, recording a video, or creating a poster. Selected children are then invited to attend the Active Surrey 'Sports Crew' training held at Farnham Leisure Centre. Our sports leaders are then given a variety of opportunities to use these skills throughout the year. For example, they help to plan and deliver interhouse sports competitions; they lead warm-ups and games during PE lessons; they assist in the smooth running of Sports Day; and they lead games during lunchtime and after school clubs.

Chance to Shine Cricket Coaching

Through the 'chance to shine' initiative, children in Years 1-6 receive 6-hours of specialist cricket coaching from Surrey County Cricket Club staff in the Spring term. In recent years, our pupils have also enjoyed specialist sessions in rugby, dance, and skateboarding.
