In addition to our sports clubs, we offer a range of enrichment opportunities throughout the year for all children at Ash Grange Nursery and Primary School.
In Term 1, all children in Reception to Year 6 took part in the One Run Global Relay, where teachers and students from all over the world aim to walk or run continuously together for 15 minutes. At Ash Grange, children were challenged to complete as many laps of the school field as possible in 15 minutes. House points were awarded for each completed lap of the school field. We were so impressed by the effort, determination and team spirit demonstrated by our entire school community during the event.
For anti-discrimination week, children took part in a range of disability sports to gain a small insight into the challenges faced by physically disabled athletes. The activities included seated balloon volleyball, a blindfold obstacle course, and the 1-legged bean bag throw. Our students showed great maturity when participating in and discussing these activities, which challenged many perceptions about disability sport.
Each week our house captains organise and deliver inter-house sports competitions during lunch break for each year group. This not only provides a fantastic opportunity for children across the school to win points for their house team, but also develops the leadership and communication skills of our house captains.
There are further exciting enrichment opportunities planned for students throughout the year.
