Starting Nursery

Your child is embarking on the first stage of their journey at Ash Grange and we will work in partnership with you to make it a happy and exciting one, meeting your child’s personal and developmental needs. Families are very important to us and we welcome all members of your family to our events and activities. We value and respect the crucial role you play in your child’s learning. In partnership with you we create an induction programme to enable your child to settle in well and be happy to stay and learn.

Once you have completed an enquiry form for a Nursery place we will invite you to come and visit our setting. Following this visit you will be invited to a Stay & Play session where you will meet with members of our Nursery team. It is an opportunity for us to learn a little more about your child, answer any questions you may have and discuss which sessions are available to give your child the best possible start at Ash Grange.

Our Induction Process-Nursery 1 (2 and 3 Year olds)

During the settling in process we will encourage your child to play and explore their surroundings, meet other children and interact with the team. These sessions allow your child to become familiar with our setting and routines. This opportunity will also allow our Early Years Practitioners time to chat with you and your child so that key information can be shared.

1. Visit Nursery-This is an opportunity for you to view our setting in action.

2. Stay & Play Session - Parent and child will meet with members of our Nursery team

3. Induction Session 1 - Parent and Child attend a 45 minute session in Nursery

4. Induction Session 2 - Parent and Child attend a 1 hour session in Nursery Class. If possible parents can move away during this visit to enable your child to explore the setting.

5. Induction Session 3 - Children visit Nursery Class, once your child is settled we may ask you to remain in the waiting area so your child can begin to experience the setting with the Nursery practitioners. This session is a 1 hour session.

Following the induction process we will inform you of your child's next session. We will endeavour to start your child’s regular timetable as soon as possible however, sometimes children take a little longer to settle and may require additional settling in sessions and possibly a reduced timetable.
