Emergency Closure Procedures

Adverse weather (e.g. snow) can cause issues for parents/carers, children and staff alike trying to get to the school due to transport disruptions and hazardous conditions. Where possible we will endeavour to keep the school open. We may need to take a decision before school or during the day that school should be closed for health and safety reasons.

A decision to close the school will be taken by the Headteacher by 7am.

How we decide:

  • Our duty of care to children and staff will be the basis of our decision.
  • We will listen to what external agencies (Police, Local Authority etc) are advising
  • We will take into account the conditions within school (heating, running water, flushing toilets).
  • If conditions are likely to improve or worsen during the day.

How we will let you know

In order to provide parents with up-to-date information we would ask that you check the following:

  • Your emails/texts from Groupcall
  • Our website

Staying home during adverse weather

If the school is open and you choose to keep your child home, please ensure that you notify the school before 9am, as this will be classified as an absence.

Closing during the school day

If the weather conditions or health and safety of the site puts children's welfare in danger we would close the school early. Should this occur we will notify you via email/text so that you can collect your child early.
