Dear Families,
Safer Internet Day this year is on Tuesday 6th February 2024. In our current digital world, this is a really important day, as part of our wider e-safety curriculum, in helping children learn to use the internet safely. We will be celebrating this year's theme 'Inspiring change? Making a difference, managing influence and navigating change online' in school with an assembly, stories and a computing lesson.
To continue this crucial conversation at home, I am delighted to be able to offer you a free workshop with parenting expert Sue Atkins, through our technology provider, Eduthing. On the evening of Tuesday 6th February at 7pm, Sue Atkins will be running a free Zoom workshop called Navigating the Digital Landscape: Empowering Parents for Online Safety Across Different Ages. She will cover proactive strategies, practical tools and techniques for managing children's internet use, as well as guidance on how to start the conversation around safe use of technology. There will also be a Q and A session.
You can attend on any device, from anywhere, and it is free to sign up through the QR code on the attached flyer or on this link:

Dear Parents/Carers,

Dear Parents/Carers,
At Ash Grange you know we are constantly seeking ways to reduce our impact on waste. We are focusing our efforts on reducing waste of clothing and footwear. Here are the changes we are making:
We need some volunteers to run this for our community; 2 days a week 9-9.30 or 2.30-3pm – let me know if you have time to help with this venture.
We are looking to add items to the Eco Shop that everyone would like. We are able to buy items through the In Kind charity for a massively reduced price. So we are going to make this available to you – our first items are toothpastes, deodorants, sanitary products, soaps and tissues. All are good brands and will all be on sale for 75p each; families can buy up to 2 of any products in the shop. We will let you know when the items arrive so you can purchase. To reduce costs, it will be a cash system, so we don’t have to pay credit card charges. The front entrance of the school will be our shop location.
The Rags 2Richescompany will be back at the end of February so you can start sorting and bringing in bags of items when you are ready. Here is the link to the website to know what you can and can not put in the bags.
Caring for this planet and the precious humans and animals on it is vital for us all and I al so proud that we are trying to do more. Thank you for your support and I hope you will share any great ideas for this work with me so we can do more and help our planet more.
Kind regards,
Mrs Curtis
Dear Parent/Carers,
We are going to be celebrating World Book day in March 7th and for many years we have dressed up as book characters. We are not dressing up this year for a number of reasons: costs, dislike of dressing up by some and to ring the changes. There will be a day of fun with children bring to school their favourite books, there will be loads of activities with authors, classes and one another.
Kind regards,
Ash Grange
Dear Parents/Carers,
We are about to sort out the class wet playtime boxes with the children. Before we buy more games and puzzles, do you have any at home that your child has grown out of (that have all the pieces) ? If so please bring them to the office in the next week.
We have been sorting the preloved uniform this week and have so much to share. Please come in and collect any items you need. or send your child to collect items at lunchtime.
Thank you
Mrs Curtis

Hello Everyone,
Happy New Year to you all, I hope that 2024 will be a wonderful year of peace, happiness and healthiness.
We have enjoyed a joyful week as projects launched for the Spring term - children were so excited by their learning, with lots of dressing up, practical fun and memorable experiences. The class pages of the website have been updated with pics and homework ideas for this half term, let your child be creative with something that interests them. With a short half term there is a month for making a project piece with the due date by 7th February.
Staffing
Mrs Rennie in Reception Class had expected to return for a couple of weeks before starting maternity leave but is needing to rest more so Mrs Newcombe has swapped this week into Reception for the rest of the school year. We will let you know the baby news when we know it. We welcome Mrs Hua to the Nursery 1 team as we have another intake of children in the new year.
Weather - We were doing very well with the weather but last night we had a small flood in Y1, all is well but the flooring is a little wet in places.
Lunchtimes together - We are experimenting with lunchtimes together for eating and playing for the next two weeks so all of the children eat at the same time and then all play together. The children are really enjoying it.
Teeny Funzone after school on Wednesdays - Please be aware due to staffing needs from 10th January onwards, Wednesday Teeny Funzone will join with the older Funzone group so parents/carers please collect at the lower playground door near the field.
PE days
From Monday there is a change to the Monday or Tuesday PE day. Reception have PE on Monday; Years 1 to 6 have PE on Tuesday. Children wear their kit as normal on a PE day.
There is no change to the Thursday or Friday PE session. If you are unsure, check your child's class page on the website
Kind regards,
Mrs Curtis
Headteacher
Dear Parent / Carer
Part of this assessment includes a review of their growth, vision and if required a hearing test. The School Nursing team will do this during term-time and weigh and measure children fully clothed, except for their coats and shoes, in a private space away from other pupils.
To carry out the school entry health checks we need to have your consent and we use E-Form, which is quick and easy, and can be done on any device i.e., mobile phone, tablet, or computer.
|
Please see below for a guide on how to complete the E-Form:
Yes – your child will be seen in school for height, weight, and vision screening. The results will be sent to you via the contact details on Cinnamon portal. This email can sometimes be sent to the junk folder, so please check.
No – your child will be withdrawn from all screening.
No reply – your child will be seen for screening of height and weight as part of the National Child Measurement Programme, requests for results can be made via the school nursing team on 01483 362629.
Children do not have to take part on the day if they do not want to.
An automated email will be sent to you on completion of the e-consent form from Cinnamon Digital Applications (who host the website for us).
Each year in England, school children in Reception have their height and weight checked at school as part of the National Child Measurement Programme. This is an opt out screening. Height and weight measurements are used to calculate weight status.
If you do not want your child to be seen as part of the National Child Measurement Programme, please complete the E-Form and opt out of screening.
To find out more about the programme and how the data will be used, please visit www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-weight/national-child-measurement-programme/
If your child’s weight falls outside predicted norms for their age and height, we will contact you.
You can read our Privacy Policy by visiting www.childrenshealthsurrey.nhs.uk/about-us/privacy-policy
If you are unable to complete the e-consent form online, have any concerns, or would like to discuss this further, please contact the Guildford school nursing team on 01483 362629.
Yours faithfully,
School Nurse team
